Is There A Rapture For God’s People?

Jack Kelley in article Dating The Rapture relates I don’t believe anyone on Earth will be able to determine the date of our departure in advance. However, I’ve also said that I believe the Church has to be gone before Daniel’s 70th Week begins, and since I believe the 2nd Coming will likely take place sometime in 2018 (at the end of Daniel’s 70th Week) that literally makes the rapture an event that could happen any day now. I came to this conclusion from a comparison of Matt. 24:34 and Psalm 90:10. From 1 Thes. 1:10 and Rev. 3:10 we learn that the reason for this is to take us away from both the time and place of the judgments that are coming upon the Earth, so He’ll come for us before these judgments begin.

My belief is along the lines of the United Church of God whose doctrinal position is that the majority part of the Church will suffer persecution at the same time that God protects others on earth in a place of refuge, that is a place of safety in a wilderness area, as is presented in Revelation 12:4-6 and Revelation 12:14-17; which would be for the last 42 months, the last 3 and 1/2 years of the 7 year Tribulation.

Given a widespread and intense prosecution, much endurance is required of the saints.  Wayne Blank provides the helpful article The Last 42 Months Of Satan’s Kingdom relating how Jerusalem will be occupied, the two Men In Black will testify of God before Mankind, where God will act supernaturally to provide a place of refuge where no army can enter and God’s people will be sustained, while the World Leader will go out to destroy the majority of God’s Elect.

Such thinking is along the lines of GraceThroughFaith, which presents that a middle east plan will be agreed upon by Israel. In Daniel 9:27, the prophet speaks of the World Leader making a covenant for one week, a week being a 7 year period; which he annuls half way through, that is at the three and one-half year period.

In Revelation John speaks of power was given to this leader for 42 months. What happened regarding the other 42 months to make seven years? The covenant that the World Leader makes with Israel is called The 70th week of Daniel.  It’s a seven year period set aside for Israel to bring the 6000 years of Human history to a close.  The 42 months of Revelation, also described as 3 1/2 years, and 1260 days, is the duration of the Great Tribulation, the last half of Daniel’s 70th week. It begins when the World Leaders stands in the Temple and declares that he’s God (2 Thes. 2:4).  It’s an event known as the  Abomination of Desolation.  Daniel says that it’ll happen in the middle of the 70th week, and Jesus said it will begin the Great Tribulation (Matt 24:15,21).

Truthnet provides the article Daniel’s 70th week, which provides further explanation of the Seventieth Week.

There will be no rapture for the Churh, that is “the called out ones” as they will have either all been slaughtered or living in the place of safety provided for the Lord. This is clearly confirmed by the following scripture verses:

1) The Tribulation Period is called the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” [The time of unbelieving Israel’s Trouble], but it is never called the time of the Church’s Trouble (Jer. 30:7) .

2)  The Tribulation Period is called a Day of Wrath in the Bible (Zeph 1:15), but the Bible says, “God hath not appointed us [the Church] to wrath” (I Thess. 5:9).

4) The Tribulation Period is called a Day of Wrath in the Bible (Zeph. 1:15), but the Bible says, Jesus has “delivered us from the wrath to come” (I Thess. 1:10).

5) The Tribulation Period is called the Day of the Lord in the Bible (Zeph. 1:14). The Bible says, “the day of the Lord [the Tribulation Period] so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they [the unbelievers] shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them [upon the unbelievers], as travail upon a woman with child; and they [the unbelievers] shall not escape” (I Thess. 5:2-3). It clearly teaches that the Tribulation Period will come upon unbelievers, but it does not include believers.

Given the way things are going, I head the admonition of the Lord who said in Luke 21:36: Watch and pray always that you might be accounted worth to escape all those things coming upon the earth and stand before the Son of Man.
